Health Care is a human right. All Michiganders should have access and ability to see a Doctor whenever needed. Creating a single-payer system state-wide is imperative.
We must properly fund mental health facilities. For far too long, we have been brushing aside and abandoning the mentally ill in our state. We must make resources and facilities available for the mentally ill state-wide.
Water is a human right. As seen in Flint with the legionnaire's outbreak and in Detroit with higher instances of water-borne illnesses in areas with water shutoffs, this is a public health issue. No Michigander should ever be without access to water.
Marijuana as a medicine should be treated as such by all employers in the state. It should be easier for citizens to use marijuana as an option to synthetic drugs, not harder. We must also educate our practitioners about alternatives to pain management and how marijuana can help.
The heroin epidemic must be addressed with the health care industry alongside education on marijuana for pain management and the issues of highly addictive prescription narcotics. We must ensure the agencies within the state that can help address these issues are properly funded.
I stand with the Michigan Nurses in their fight for safe staffing levels, equitable wages and limits on hours-worked per shift.
