Green Party Nominates Jennifer Kurland for Governor

FLINT — The Green Party of Michigan held its nominating convention in Flint on Saturday, May 5 and chose Jennifer Kurland as its candidate for Michigan governor.

Kurland was born and raised in Michigan and has lived in the state her entire life.  She is a community activist with more than a decade of experience in environmental issues, finance and small business and is currently finishing a six-year term as the president of Redford Union School.

She has been in Flint since 2016 and has researched and created a documentary on the water crisis there.

She has an associate’s degree from Schoolcraft College and bachelor’s degree in political science and public affairs from Wayne State University. During her acceptance speech, Kurland said she felt confident that she will be able to grow the Green Party during this gubernatorial election.

“I am honored and excited to have received the Green Party of Michigan’s nomination for governor,” she said.  “With Charin as my Lieutenant governor, I am confident that we can grow the party and become contenders in this race.”
